What's Lea Michele Up To?
In the world of Poppington, there are a handful of stars I like to keep tabs on. Most of them are interesting and noteworthy enough to be written about. One has been seen nearly every day in my inbox for about three years thanks to a Google alert I set up of her name. Unfortunately, she has hardly ever graced the silver screen in that time. And by silver screen, I mean my chrome colored macbook pro screen specifically as I sit and type Poppington.
Without further ado, here are some recent highlights of my Google alert for Lea Michele in what I can only imagine will be a hardly-ever recurring segment derivative of Who?Weekly’s Rita Ora segment entitled, “What’s Lea Michele Up To?”
January 1, 2024: “Lea Michele has been accused by several former co-stars of behaving like a diva.” This alert ultimately led me to an article about Alyssa Milano getting Shannen Doherty fired from Charmed, an event which happened upwards of 20 years ago and was reported on because of a celebrity podcast appearance she made talking about the event. Nested in the Fox News piece aggregated by Yahoo News was a round-up of “explosive TV show feuds.” For the uninitiated, perhaps the most notable “feud” of Glee was between Lea Michele and…everyone. Cast member Samantha Ware spoke out in 2020 about Lea threatening to shit in her wig and making several racist microagressions. Heather Morris said she was unpleasant to work with and disrespectful. Chris Colfer commented that he wouldn’t be seeing Lea in Funny Girl because he could “be triggered at home.”
January 1, 2024: Lea Michele lands a coveted spot in the round of “2023’s most memorable moments captured on camera” by website EVOKE, which definitely exists and I had certainly heard of before receiving the Google alert.
January 4, 2024 (Originally written August 14, 2023???): Playing Lea Michele’s mom on Glee hurt Idina Menzel’s ego. Why? In her own words, "you're worried you're not going to work again, and then people hire you to be someone's mother when you probably should be their older sister.”
January 4, 2024: Glee’s Chart Rise to Domination: A Retrospective on Its Billboard Legacy. Nobody asked for this, but here we are….“By the end of its run, Glee would amass 207 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.” WOW.
January 3, 2024: Lea Michele pauses her Broadway run of Funny Girl due to COVID-19. When, you may ask? September 11, 2022. Yet still it was news on January 3, 2024.
December 31, 2023: The Scream Queens Stars Ranked by Net Worth! Apparently Lea Michele has a net worth of $12 million! Ariana Grande, number 1 ranked net worth, has a net worth of $240 million.
December 31, 2023: Lea Michele was listed as one of 10 stars who manifested their dreams because she manifested playing Fanny Bryce in Funny Girl on Broadway. [Guess what, this was actually reported by multiple outlets! The robots were in sync!]
December 31, 2023: Lea Michele’s song '“Heavenly” from her 2017 album Places was one of three songs cowritten by Ellie Goulding, as reported in American Songwriter. The other songs, for those who were curious, were “You DOn’t Know” by Big Sean and “Heavy Crown” by Iggy Azalea. Let’s just say she’s no Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels or Bonnie McKee.
December 30, 2023: Lea Michele Net Worth. Two days in a row, babes.
December 28, 2023: Lea Michele’s “difficult allegations” made it onto a list of things celebs probably want you to forget about from 2023. Thanks for the hard-hitting shit as always, Buzzfeed News. The details in this particular round-up did include two allegations I forgot about. One that she was rude to Sadie Sink when they both appeared on the Tonight Show (don’t you EVER hurt 10 Minute All Too Well girl) and two that she didn’t let an actress who had a guest spot on Glee sit at her lunch table. Lea Michele is such a cartoon.
I hope you enjoyed this brief look into my email feed. And thank you for indulging me. As I type this, I’m coming down from being wine drunk off of homemade wine that my boss and his financial advisor Rocco made together on some sort of “boys’ night” outing.
Love you (allegedly)!
